MK-677, also known as Ibutamoren, is an orally active, non-peptide agonist of the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). It stimulates endogenous growth hormone release and increases circulating levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) without significantly altering cortisol or prolactin levels. Preclinical studies suggest MK-677 supports bone density, lean muscle mass, and recovery while also showing potential benefits in sleep regulation, cognition, and metabolic health. Its long half-life enables once-daily dosing in experimental models, making it a widely studied growth hormone secretagogue.
